Gingerbread Christmas Ornament

Make these simple, but deliciously scented, Gingerbread Christmas Ornaments while baking your next batch of cookies. Super easy directions! Fun for kids to decorate with paint!

Last week while I was making some delicious cookies, I thought how fun would it be to make Gingerbread Christmas ornaments!

I had originally wanted to make some baked cinnamon ornaments, but when I found out how much cinnamon was needed, I didn’t really want to run up the store to buy it. I was in the middle of baking sugar and gingerbread cookies, so I figured I could achieve pretty much the same effect with the gingerbread.

I was already using these Rolled & Ready Cookie Dough Sheets, so I just cut a few extra shapes to put to the side to use as the ornaments. Using a straw, I punched out a little hole at the top of each ornament to tie a ribbon through later. After my cookies were done baking, I set the oven to 300° and baked the ornament cookies on a baking sheet for 30 minutes.

After they cooled completely, I decorated them with a paint pen. You could also have the kiddos decorate them with puffy paint!
